     Shenzhen, the first special economic zone in China, is a thriving modern metropolis with a population over 13 million. It is composed of  7 districts: i.e. Futian, Luohu, Nanshan and Yantian, Bao’an, Longgang and Guangming. It features in "soft industry in the south and hard industry in the north, and port and tourism industries in the west and east." Finance, logistics, hi-tech, software and trade have become its pillar industries together with the convention and exhibition economy. Clothing, gold and jewelry, machinery, furniture, toy, printing, clock and watch trades have continued to record fast expansion as its traditional industries. After implementation of Wonder Trademark Strategy, twelve products made in Shenzhen including Kingway beer, Konka TV, Great Wall computer, Sky Worth TV, BELLE leather shoes, Taifeng telephone set, Everbright watch, Fuanna bed wares, Fiyta watch, have been awarded as " China's Famous Trademarks" since 2004. According to statistic results of the municipal government, the local gross product value of 2007 was RMB 676.541 billion with an increase of 14.7% over 2006.

              

     Shenzhen has been constructing new types of metropolitan industrial parks where vigorous and encouraging companies' headquarters locate for the "three-high" characteristics, namely, high technology, high standard and high value. The high technology sector has become the primary driving force behind the local economy. Strategies for appropriately and rationally developing heavy industry have shown their effects and breakthroughs have been made in automobile, refined chemistry, equipment manufacturing and bio-medicine fields. The development of information technology is prominent as well in the city with a total output value increasing by 30 percent, laying a solid foundation for economic growth of the city.

                 

    With rapid development in the past two decades, the City is well known as a popular weekend destination for shoppers and holidaymakers from Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, and Southeast Asian countries. Local tourist attractions include China Folk and Culture Village, Xianhu Botanical Park, Lotus Flower Hill. Visitors can also enjoy trips to nearby beauty spots such as Dameisha Beach Resort, Xiaomeisha Beach Resort, sites of historical interests such as Dapeng Historic Reserve, Nantou Historic Reserve, and centers of business and industry such as Dong Men Shopping Centre, Hua Qiang Bei Shopping Centre, Shenzhen Science and Technology Zone, Shiyan Industrial Zone, etc.
